My roommate from Ohio swore by adding a can of cream of mushroom soup to everything
I was down to my last $20 for food this month and staring at a sad bag of frozen peas and some dry pasta. He told me to grab a can of that soup for like $1.25, mix it with the peas and a little water, and pour it over the pasta. It sounds gross but it actually made a decent, filling sauce that got me through three meals. Anyone else have a weird pantry item that saves the day when money's tight?

My buddy in college lived off a giant jar of generic peanut butter for a week once. He just ate it with a spoon, said it was better than nothing.

Cream of mushroom soup as a life raft is a real Ohio thing, I can't even make fun of it. David_mason57's corned beef hash sounds like a war crime in a can though, no offense. Desperate times call for weird pantry glue, I guess.
