Just swapped canned beans for dried beans and saved $12 this week

I always bought canned black beans for my taco nights, but last Tuesday I grabbed a 2-pound bag of dried ones for 3 bucks at the local grocery store. Soaked them overnight and cooked them up in about an hour. Ended up with the same amount as 6 cans which would have cost me around 15 dollars total. They taste way better too, not as mushy. Has anyone else made the switch and found a favorite way to season them?

Totally feel you on the texture thing, canned beans can get so sad and mushy. I made the switch last year and never looked back.

Hannah, do you soak your beans overnight or do a quick boil method? I've been experimenting with different techniques and can't decide which gives better texture.

Ugh, yes, canned beans are like eating wet cardboard. I started soaking dry beans a few months ago and it's been a game changer. I do the overnight soak, then cook them low and slow with a bay leaf and some garlic. The texture comes out way better, firm on the outside but super creamy inside.
