Just realized soaking dry beans overnight is a waste of my time
I used to swear by the overnight soak for black beans, but last Tuesday I was short on time and threw a pound of dry beans straight into the pot with onions and cumin at 5pm. Simmered them for about 90 minutes and they came out just as soft as any batch I ever soaked for 12 hours. I get why people say soaking cuts cook time and helps with gas, but honestly I did not notice any difference in my stomach or the texture. Not saying soaking is bad, just saying if you forgot like I did, dinner still happens. Has anyone else tried skipping the soak and gotten the same result, or did I just get lucky with these beans?
