Hit $200 in groceries for a family of 3, cracked the code

So last month I finally got our weekly grocery bill under $200 for me, my husband, and our toddler. That might not sound crazy, but we live in Portland where everything is pricey, and I used to spend over $300 easy. I started buying store brand stuff for things like pasta and canned beans, and I stopped buying pre-cut veggies since they cost double. Also meal planning around what's on sale at WinCo on Tuesdays has been a game changer. Has anyone else found a specific store day or trick that dropped their bill way more than they expected?

WinCo's Tuesday markdowns are solid, but your number's a bit off for Portland. I've seen the same trick get families down to about $180 if you hit the meat section at open, since they slash the stuff expiring that day. The real kicker was switching to their bulk bins for rice and oatmeal, saved me maybe $12 a week alone. Just don't count on produce markdowns, that's where they make their money back.
