That week in Austin where every mortar mix acted different

We had 3 days of 95 degree heat and then a sudden rainstorm, and every single batch I mixed for the retaining wall job set up like it had its own personality, one got crusty in 20 minutes and the next stayed sloppy for an hour. Is there a trick to adjusting your mix on the fly when the weather flips mid-day, or do you guys just ride it out?

Totally feel you on this! I had a similar mess last spring on a patio job where it went from muggy to blazing sun in like two hours. One load turned into a brick before I even got it leveled, and the next one was basically soup that wouldn't firm up. I started keeping a spray bottle of water and a bucket of dry mix in the truck just to eyeball it and adjust, but honestly half the time I just cursed at the sky and went with it. The worst is when you think you've got the perfect slump and then the sun comes out and ruins your whole afternoon.
