Serious question, has anyone else had a brick arch collapse on them during a repair?
I was fixing a 3-foot garden arch in my own yard and the whole thing came down because I didn't support the center properly. It took me almost 6 hours to clean up and rebuild it right.

What kind of support did you try using before it fell, and what did you end up doing differently on the rebuild? I messed up a small wall once by not bracing it right, and the cleanup was the worst part by far.

Was it just one of those flimsy adjustable metal braces? I tried that first and it wobbled like crazy. For the rebuild I went overboard and used two solid wood braces nailed into the studs at a real angle. The cleanup still sucked, but at least the wall stayed up this time.

Bracing is a nightmare, @gavinw45, I feel your pain.
