Rant: I thought tuckpointing with a grinder was for hacks until I tried it on a 1912 house in Cincinnati
I always figured grinding out mortar joints was for guys who never learned to swing a hammer and chisel. Then my foreman Dale put me on a repoint job on a 1912 brick house in Cincinnati and handed me a 4 inch grinder with a tuckpointing blade, said it would take two days instead of six. Ngl, the joint profile still looks sharp when you control the depth, and I got a smoother finish than I ever got with a chisel on soft brick. Curious if anyone else has switched over, or do you still hand cut everything?
