I dropped $600 on a laser level for a big foundation job

Everyone on my crew said it was a waste and to just use string lines. But setting up that 100 foot wall alone would have taken half a day. With the laser, I had the first course perfectly level in under an hour. The boss saw the speed and now he wants one for every crew. Anyone have a cheaper model they actually trust for outdoor work?

Ever notice how people fight new tools until they see the time it saves? Your crew calling it a waste is the same thing as my uncle swearing his hand drawn plans were fine until he tried CAD. What's a job you saw totally change once the right tool showed up?

Remember when every office had that one person who could fix the printer? They were like a wizard. Then someone actually bought a printer that worked. That job just vanished overnight. Kind of sad in a way, but you can't argue with not having to deal with paper jams every Tuesday.

Totally agree about people fighting new tools! I read this article about roofers still using chalk lines for years. Then one crew tried a laser level and cut their setup time in half. Suddenly every roofer at the supply house was asking about lasers. The old guys said it was a fad until they saw a three day job get done in two. The right tool doesn't just change the job, it changes the whole timeline.
