Cold joints at a church steps job in Philly changed my timing
Last month I was laying a long run of front steps at a church off Germantown Ave. It was 94 degrees and I got pulled away to help mix a second batch, left the first course sitting for about 20 minutes too long. When I came back and buttered up, that cold joint was already set enough that the new bed didn't bond right, I had to chip out 12 bricks and restart. Now I always set a timer on my phone for 15 minutes max between batches on hot days, anyone else get burned this way on big pours?
