Warning: My sink handled a broken dish way better than my go-to brand
I was washing a big ceramic platter at my apartment in Phoenix last Tuesday and it just slipped right out of my hands. Shattered into like 15 pieces in the bottom of the sink, water everywhere. My usual cleaning spray and scrub brush couldn't touch the sharp edges or slimy residue, so I grabbed a random store brand dish soap I never use. That cheap stuff cut through the mess in one pass, no cuts or fuss. Made me wonder if I've been paying extra for fancy labels when the basic option outworks them. Anyone else had a random backup product save them from a disaster?

and the thing is, that basic dish soap probably has the same main ingredients anyway. I had a similar wakeup call with a generic ketchup once. Now I just grab whatever's on sale for most of my cleaning stuff, it works fine.

Funny you mention that because last week I had a similar thing happen with my laundry detergent. I was out of my usual expensive stuff and found some random bottle my roommate left behind. That off-brand liquid got a grass stain out of my favorite jeans that my high-end stuff never could touch. Now I'm side-eyeing my whole cleaning cabinet like everything I thought I knew was a lie. Maybe the fancy marketing is just there to make us feel smart while the cheap stuff does the dirty work.
