That one customer at Best Buy who spent 20 minutes arguing with me about HDMI cables

I worked at Best Buy in Ohio for like 2 years and this guy comes up to me holding a $40 HDMI cable and a $10 one. He dead serious tells me the expensive one gives him 'sharper blacks' because the gold plating makes the signal cleaner lol. I tried to explain that digital signals don't work that way but he was so sure of himself. He ended up buying three of the expensive ones and said I was just trying to sell him junk. Has anyone else had to deal with customers who blindly trust a brand name even when the facts are right there?

I guess I'm guilty of falling for marketing too, I once bought a "gaming" pillow that promised to improve my reaction times. Turns out it was just a regular pillow with RGB lights sewn into it, and my aim in Call of Duty stayed exactly the same lol. So yeah, sometimes we just want to believe the story, even if it's totally made up.

People do the same thing with wine and bottled water, just paying for the story instead of the actual product.

Yeah but what makes a "real" story versus just good marketing though?
