Swapped my Nike running shoes for Hokas after 8 years and my knees don't ache anymore
I figured I'd give those thick soled Hokas a try after my last pair of Nikes wore out at 400 miles, and honestly the cushioning made such a difference on my usual 5k route that I'm wondering if I was just stubborn about sticking with the swoosh for too long.

Dude 400 miles is solid for one pair of shoes. Made the same switch last year for my trail runs, never going back. The thick soles feel weird at first but totally worth it.

You know what @shaneb16, you might be onto something. I used to think people were crazy for dropping that kind of money on shoes that felt like bricks on your feet. But after finally trying a pair with a big stack height last year, I get it now. That thick sole really does take a minute to get used to, like walking on marshmallows at first. But once your legs adjust, the cushioning is honestly a game changer for longer miles.
