Swapped my Husky for a DeWalt after 3 busted jobs in Phoenix

I ran a Husky impact driver for 4 years because my dad swore by them, but it stripped 3 lugs on a Ford F-150 last Tuesday and cost me an hour on site. Borrowed a buddy's DeWalt 20V for the next repair and it zipped off the same bolts like butter, no smoke or grindy noise. Anyone else switch brands after one total failure, or am I just unlucky with the old one?

Phoenix heat does nasty things to impact drivers, especially if you're leaving them in a truck bed or toolbox. The grease inside gets thin and the internals wear out faster than you'd think, so that Husky might've been on its last legs without showing obvious signs. I've had the same thing happen with a Milwaukee that just quit biting after years of good service, swapped to a Makita and never looked back. The real test is torque consistency on rusty lugs, not just how new the tool feels. If the DeWalt keeps that same zip after a few months of summer work, then it's a real upgrade, not just a lucky day. Also check your socket fit, sometimes a worn socket is the actual culprit and the new tool just masks it.
