Stopped at a Shell station in Ohio and noticed something weird about the ice cream

They had a whole freezer full of name brand pints like Ben & Jerry's and Häagen-Dazs sitting right next to the store brand tubs for half the price, but the name brands were almost gone and the cheap stuff was fully stocked, so what makes people pay double just for a label on frozen dessert?

@margaret_kim13 I can't argue with that, but sometimes I wonder if it's just the power of a familiar label making me think it tastes better you know? Like I've definitely bought the store brand before and convinced myself it was just as good... then went back to Häagen-Dazs two days later anyway.

The name brands probably just taste better honestly... people don't mind paying more for something they actually like.

Man I hear you @margaret_kim13, but store brands have actually won a ton of blind taste tests over the years. Pretty sure Consumer Reports even showed Kirkland ice cream beating out some of the big names in texture and flavor. People just get hooked on that familiar carton and pay extra for the habit.
