Overheard a flooring guy say LVP is a scam at Home Depot

I was picking up grout at the Home Depot on Broadway last Tuesday and this contractor was telling his buddy that most LVP brands are just thin plastic with a photo glued on. He said anything under 8mm with a wear layer less than 20 mils won't last 5 years in a real home. Made me rethink the cheap flooring I was about to order from that online place. Has anyone else heard pro contractors trash talking a popular product like that?

Buddy of mine bought those same thin planks and was SO stoked until he realized his floor had low spots they wouldn't cover. Now he's got a weird bumpy section in his living room.
