My old KitchenAid mixer finally gave out after 15 years, so I tried a cheaper brand.

Honestly, the difference was clear in the first month. The new one's motor strained with a single batch of thick cookie dough, and the bowl wobbled. My KitchenAid handled that same recipe for over a decade without a single groan. I'm already saving to buy another KitchenAid, because that reliability is worth it. Has anyone else had a brand they tried to replace, only to run straight back?

That's a real bummer about your mixer, but it makes total sense. You get used to a tool that just works, and anything less feels wrong. @haydeng47 is right on the money about regular tools too. Once you find a brand that lasts, it's hard to accept anything that doesn't measure up. You end up wasting more money trying to save a few bucks at the start. What kind of KitchenAid are you looking at getting to replace it?

Tried to cheap out on a can opener once. Ended up looking like I was fighting a robot in my own kitchen.

What about tools, like a favorite hammer or screwdriver you can't replace?
