My fancy water filter pitcher cracked after exactly 11 months of use

The seal gave out on the Brita knockoff I bought from Target last April. Water all over my counter and soaked a stack of bills I had sitting there. I just grabbed a basic Pur from the grocery store instead. Has anyone else had a filter pitcher fail on them randomly like that?

Shattered mine in the sink trying to twist it off just last month, so I feel your pain lol. Had one of those glass Brita style ones and my grip slipped, sent it flying into the disposal and soaked my mail too. Guess we're both paying the "adulting is expensive" tax with wet envelopes and cracked plastic.

Twisting off a stuck pitcher cap over the sink is basically asking for trouble, isn't it? If you had to do it again, would you just fill the glass from the top instead of fighting the lid? Wet mail is always the final insult on top of broken kitchen gear.

Man, @hannahs45 I feel for you with the Brita disaster. I read somewhere that running hot water over the lid for like 30 seconds expands the plastic just enough to break the seal without smashing the whole thing into pieces. Worth trying next time before you end up with wet mail and a busted pitcher. Honestly, I just keep a rubber grip pad in the drawer for this exact reason now.
