My cousin said my old running shoes were causing my knee pain after 5 miles.
I switched to a pair of Brooks and the difference was instant, so now I'm stuck wondering if I should just buy their shoes forever or if other brands like Hoka or Asics are just as good for high arches.

Yeah, that gait analysis thing is key. I got it done once and they showed me how my old shoes were letting my ankles roll in way too much. It's not just about the arch, it's how your whole leg moves.

I used to think all running shoes were basically the same until my shin splints got so bad I had to stop. A running store put me in a pair of Saucony Guides and the support for my flat feet was a total game changer. Now I won't just buy any shoe, I get my gait analyzed every time I need a new pair.

Honestly, I've had the opposite experience. I got a full analysis done once and it felt like they were just trying to sell me the most expensive shoe in the store. My feet felt fine in my old cheap pair, and the fancy ones they picked gave me blisters. Now I just buy last year's model of a basic shoe online and I've been injury free for years. Sometimes I think we overcomplicate it.
