My $400 mattress topper gamble paid off, but the brand switch stung

I have been loyal to the same mattress brand for a decade, but last month I caved and bought a fancy $400 cooling topper from a competitor. The first few nights felt amazing, like sleeping on a cloud, but by week two the edge started sagging and it trapped heat worse than my old setup. Meanwhile my husband's cheap $80 topper from the same old brand still holds up perfectly. It bugs me because the ad hype got me, and I wasted cash on a trendy name. Has anyone else jumped brands for a big price item and regretted it fast, or did you stick with what worked?
