My $25 toaster oven betrayed me at 6am and I went back to the air fryer

That cheap toaster oven I bought from Target in Austin finally died after 3 years, but it picked the worst moment. It caught fire making frozen waffles, just smoke and a weird burning plastic smell. I unplugged it fast and tossed it in the sink, no damage but my kitchen smelled awful for two days. So I dug out my old air fryer that I stopped using because it takes up counter space. Now I'm asking, has anyone else had a small appliance fail right when you were already late for work?

Gotta disagree with you there. A toaster oven catching fire is a safety issue, not just a timing thing. I had one start smoking once and it scared me straight, never trusted that brand again. Three years of use is decent for a $25 unit anyway. Air fryers are the better long term bet, they just work harder and safer.
