I spent over $200 on a 'smart' coffee maker that's dumber than my old one

Bought one of those connected brewers a couple years back, thinking it would be a game changer. The app was clunky, the auto-schedule failed half the time, and it needed a firmware update every other month just to make a pot. My simple $40 drip machine from college never had a single issue. Now the smart one's stuck in descale mode and the company wants $75 for a service call. Anyone else get burned by a gadget that promised to make life easier but just added headaches?

Ugh, my smart fridge did the same thing. It once locked me out for an "essential update" while my ice cream melted. Total scam.

My buddy's smart lock bricked itself during a software update.
