I found a chart on a tech blog showing how much a certain phone brand's screens cost to fix
It was way more than other brands, like $100 more for the same part. I always stuck with them for the camera, but that repair price is just too much. Anyone else switch brands over something like that?

Ugh, that's the worst. I mean, it feels like everything is a subscription now, even the stuff you already own. You buy the thing, but then the real cost is keeping it working. Maybe it's just me, but that repair price is basically a hidden fee.

Tell me about it. I'm still using a phone from like 2018 because the battery replacement quote felt like a ransom note. At this point, I'm basically paying a subscription to my own stubbornness.

Seriously, @park.abby, you nailed it. My old laptop needed a simple fan fix last month, and the quote was more than I paid for the whole thing used. It's not a repair bill, it's a forced upgrade plan. They make it so you just give up and buy new. Feels like getting punished for not throwing stuff away fast enough.
