Hot take: My 10 year journey from generic store brand cola to being a Pepsi guy

I used to grab whatever 2-liter was on sale, but after a flat, weird-tasting can at a friend's barbecue in 2018, I switched to Pepsi and never looked back. Anyone else have a specific moment that made them pick a side in the soda wars?

Oh man, I totally get this! My switch was a flat, warm Coke at a bowling alley that tasted like metal. I tried a Pepsi right after and it was just crisper and less syrupy. That was it for me, I'm fully on team Pepsi now. It's funny how one bad experience can completely change your preference. What's the weirdest off-brand soda you've ever had?

Read a story once about a guy who swore off a brand after a similar warm, flat experience. Totally makes sense, @adams.jana. Weirdest off-brand I ever had was a grape soda from a dollar store that tasted exactly like cough syrup, it was so bad.
