Hot take: I switched my whole kitchen to cast iron and my grocery bill dropped $60 a month
Three years ago I got tired of replacing a scratched up nonstick pan every 14 months, so I bought one $25 Lodge skillet at a hardware store in Boise and used it for everything. The weird part is my food bill went down because I stopped buying cooking spray, parchment paper, and those disposable liners I used to grab every trip. I also learned that eggs slide right out if you heat the pan slow instead of cranking the burner to high like I always did. My roommate still thinks I am nuts for seasoning a pan on a Sunday afternoon. Anyone else find that going cheap on one thing made them spend less on five others?
