Found out my sunscreen was 3 years expired, the bottle lied to me

I was packing for a beach trip to Gulf Shores last month and noticed my go-to SPF 50 had a weird smell. Checked the batch code online and it was from 2019, way past the 3 year shelf life. Has anyone else ever bothered to verify their sunscreen's real expiration date, or do you just trust it until it runs out?
