Fleet farm boots vs my 15 year old pair, the honest test

I used to swear by one brand of work boots, the same pair I bought back in 2009, and I'd get annoyed when people talked about switching. Then last fall I had to replace them after the sole finally split at the heel, and I grabbed a pair of Fleet Farm's house brand on a whim because they were $60. Three months in, they're holding up better than the old ones did at this point, and honestly the break-in was way shorter. It makes me wonder how much of my loyalty was just habit versus actual quality. Has anyone else found a cheaper brand that outlasted their old favorite?

My last pair of expensive boots died because I tripped over my own feet and the whole sole peeled off like a banana. So my bar for "better" is pretty low at this point. Idk, maybe I'm just clumsy and boots never stood a chance with me. But it does make you laugh thinking about all those years I spent defending a brand like they were paying my rent. Cheap pair turning out decent just means I have more money left for things that actually matter, like ice cream.
