Bought a fancy blender on sale for $80 and it melted on day 3

Last month I got a Vitamix knockoff, the Blender Pro 3000, for $80 at a discount store. Thought I was being smart and saving money over the name brand. On day 3, I tried making a simple smoothie with frozen fruit and it started smelling like burning plastic. Then the base actually got hot enough to warp the pitcher seal. I had to toss the whole thing and order a refurbished Blendtec for $200. Has anyone else had a cheap blender fail on them like that? I am wondering if the brand loyalty to these expensive models is actually worth it.

I mean, is it really that big of a deal? Blenders break sometimes, even expensive ones. Maybe it was just a dud or you got a fake one.

Oh come on, you can't be serious lol. For that kind of money, a blender shouldn't just "break sometimes" after normal use. That's like saying a Ferrari shouldn't be expected to start every morning, it's just how expensive cars are. People buy these things specifically because they're supposed to last, not fall apart after a few smoothies. And getting a fake one? That's on the company for not having better quality control or authentication. If they're gonna charge that much, they need to back it up.

Had a Vitamix do the same thing to me last year @laura189, totally random too.
