A stat from a thrift store newsletter says most people rebuy the same shampoo for 9 years without thinking
I was killing time at a laundromat in Reno last Tuesday and picked up this free newsletter a thrift shop puts out. There was a small piece in it about how the average person sticks with the same shampoo brand for around 9 years, mostly because they grabbed it once in a rush and never thought about it again. That number hit me hard because I did the math on my own shower shelf. I have used the same green bottle since a roommate left one behind in 2016, and I could not tell you a single thing I like about it. It smells fine. It lathers fine. That is the whole story. Meanwhile I will stand in the grocery aisle for 10 minutes picking a new kind of granola bar like it matters. So my question is, what is the one thing you keep rebuying just because you bought it once, and have you ever actually stopped to ask why? I want to know if I am the only one who does this.
