Was binging shows on 1.5x speed for 2 years until i hit a drama that broke my brain
I figured faster playback meant more content in less time during my cramped bus commute, but then i watched 'Dark' and missed half the twists because the dialogue turned into chipmunk gibberish lol. Took me rewinding 3 times to realize i was basically speedrunning my favorite hobby without actually enjoying it. Has anyone else caught yourself doing this and had to force yourself back to normal speed?

Honestly, I read somewhere that watching at 1.5x actually changes how your brain processes emotional beats in a show. Like, the pauses and silences are part of the storytelling, and speeding through them just kills the mood. I tried it once with a slow drama and felt like I was just checking boxes instead of getting lost in the story. Then I saw a thing about how directors literally time their scenes for pacing, and it made me go back to normal speed. Now I just accept that some shows are worth the extra time, even if it means fewer episodes a night.

Bring up how fast playback actually changes the music score too. Soundtracks are literally timed to hit emotional peaks with specific scene lengths, so speeding it up messes with the composer's whole vibe. Tried 1.5x on a show once and the climax music sounded like a sped up chipmunk remix, no thanks.

Agree to disagree, I still binge everything on 2x and catch the feels just fine.
