Vent: Spent 3 hours fixing a wifi drop that turned out to be a single loose coax cable in my apartment wall

I was getting kicked from boss fights in Elden Ring every 15 minutes for two weeks, replaced the router, bought a signal booster, and even called my ISP before I noticed the cable jack was literally dangling out of the drywall - has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on a connection issue that was just bad wiring in your rental?

Bro, same energy as me spending 4 hours resetting my modem and rewiring my whole living room only to find the ethernet cord was just barely crimped under my couch leg lmao. Landlord special wiring strikes again, making us look like tech support clowns for a whole afternoon. At least you caught it before buying a third router like I almost did.

Oh man, I feel that. Last time I had a similar issue, I just labeled every single cable with a piece of masking tape and a sharpie before I even plugged anything in. It felt super extra at the time but saved me a ton of headache later when something inevitably got nudged loose.
