Pro tip: dont leave your laptop on the bus seat when you get up
I was stuck in rush hour traffic on the 47 bus in Chicago last week, bored out of my mind watching Netflix on my laptop. My stop came up and I just grabbed my bag and jumped off without thinking. Made it halfway down the block before I realized my laptop was still sitting on that seat. I literally sprinted back to the bus stop but the doors had already closed and it pulled away. Had to call the CTA lost and found line while standing there in the cold rain, and they said theyd check the bus when it returned to the depot. Somehow by some miracle someone turned it in three hours later, but I spent that whole time freaking out about all my game saves and unfinished shows. Has anyone else had that sick feeling when you realize you left something important behind? What did you do?

Oh man, that sinking feeling is the absolute worst... I've done something similar with my phone at a coffee shop and spent the next hour calling my own number like a maniac hoping someone would pick up. The universe really tests you sometimes, leaving your whole digital life hanging on a stranger's honesty. I'm honestly shocked you got it back, most bus seats are like a black hole for lost electronics. Glad you didn't have to say goodbye to all those unfinished shows though.

Honestly it's wild how we just trust random people with our whole digital lives. After I lost my wallet on the subway once I started keeping a $20 bill taped to the back of my phone case just in case some good samaritan finds it. The universe definitely has a sick sense of humor though, making you panic over 47 browser tabs of shows you'll probably never finish anyway.
