Hot take: That movie theater in Phoenix ruined subtitles for me forever
Went to see a horror flick at this old AMC on 7th Street and the subtitles were burned into the bottom of the screen. Like permanently visible on every dark scene. Ruined the whole jump scare vibe lol. Do other people just deal with subtitles getting baked into the film or was that place just a dump?

Burned-in subtitles? That theater sounds like a total dumpster fire.

Drove right past that AMC last week and didn't even think to stop. Burned in subtitles are the worst, they totally wreck the atmosphere of any dark scene. It's like when you go to a restaurant and the TV above the bar has that obnoxious sports ticker zipping across the bottom of the screen the whole time. Or when someone sets their phone brightness to max in a dark movie theater and it's like a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean. We just accept all this broken stuff in public places because nobody complains anymore. That theater definitely was a dump, but it's part of a bigger problem where people running places just don't care about the little details that make or break an experience.
