Why does nobody warn you that botanical garden greenhouses will get you hooked on moss?
I went to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond back in April just to kill a couple hours, and I walked out of their conservatory totally obsessed with moss. The humidity in there was unreal, and there was this whole wall of bryophytes that looked like a tiny green planet. I came home, dug up a patch of moss from my own shady yard, and now I have 14 moss jars sitting on my kitchen sill. Does anyone know why sheet moss does fine on my porch but the cushion moss keeps browning out?
