Used to baby my fiddle leaf fig with misting and filtered water - now I just dump tap water on it
I was one of those people who bought a hygrometer and measured every drop of water for my fiddle leaf fig. Then last summer I went on a 2 week trip and forgot to ask my roommate to water it. Came back and the thing had dropped 4 leaves but somehow pushed out 2 new ones from the stress. Now I just water it with straight tap water every Sunday when I remember. It's actually grown 8 inches in 6 months compared to the 2 inches the year before. Has anyone else had their plants do better when they stopped caring so much?

Mine pushed out 2 new ones from the stress" is such a wild plant parent moment. Do you ever wonder if the tap water has minerals or something that the filtered water was missing? Like maybe the neglect forced it to adapt and get tougher. I'm curious if you still check the soil before watering or just go by the calendar.

Do people really analyze their plants this closely? lol I just water mine when they look sad and somehow they're still alive.
