That greenhouse at the Chicago Botanic Garden has a serious air plant problem now
Went last weekend and noticed the Tillandsia collection in the tropical house is spreading like crazy onto the orchid mounts. The staff must be finding them under benches and on the paths every morning. There was one attached to a signs metal frame near the door. Anybody else see plants just taking over in unexpected spots after a wet season?

Gotta push back on this take honestly. That greenhouse has been way too dry for years and the Tillandsia were barely hanging on before this season. Walked through there in June and half the mounts were empty or had sad little crispy plants. What you're calling "spreading" is probably just a few clumps that finally got enough moisture to puff up a bit. Not a problem, its a sign the staff finally fixed their watering schedule.

I was actually there two weeks ago and counted at least 12 new offshoots on just one rack near the south windows. They're popping up on the floor, the posts, even climbing up onto the cork bark displays now. That's not just a watering fix, that's a takeover in progress.
