Talking to my niece about her 'dead' succulent changed my whole view on plants
My 8 year old niece, Chloe, was about to throw out her little jade plant because it had a few yellow leaves. I told her plants can bounce back, and we just moved it to a sunnier spot in her room. A month later, it's got three new green shoots, and she's so proud she 'saved' it. It hit me that I used to see plants as either fine or done for, but really they're just trying to tell you what they need. Anyone have a story about a plant you thought was a goner but came back?

Read somewhere that a lot of houseplants are basically dormant, not dead, when they look bad. They're just waiting it out.

Honestly, "more patient than we are" really stuck with me from what jones.anna said. Tbh I think that’s the key lesson plants give us, they don’t give up easily, they just run on a slower clock than we do. Ngl, it makes me wonder how many things I’ve tossed too early just because I didn’t wait long enough.

Remembered my mom had this spider plant that looked completely fried, all crispy and brown. She stuck it in the bathroom for the steam and forgot about it for like two months. Thing came back with a vengeance, sent out a dozen new babies on those long shoots. It taught me they can be way more patient than we are, just waiting for the right conditions.
