Spent 3 months babying a calathea before admitting the tap water here in Columbus was never the issue
I was buying distilled water by the gallon every single trip and misting twice a day because everyone online swears calatheas are drama queens about tap. What actually fixed the crispy leaf edges was moving it 4 feet away from the south window so it never caught direct sun, and the new growth came in clean within 3 weeks. So my real question is, why does the whole houseplant crowd push humidity and water quality first when light is the thing that was actually frying it?
Ha! I killed like 4 calatheas blaming my tap water before realizing my "bright indirect" was basically plant desert sun. The internet just loves a dramatic scapegoat I guess. Glad yours bounced back, nothing beats clean new growth after months of crispy sadness.
