Overheard a greenhouse worker say 'most people kill succulents with kindness' and it hit me hard

I used to water my jade plant every three days thinking I was being a good plant parent, but after that comment I looked it up and realized I was basically drowning it. Now I only water it once every two weeks and it's finally growing new leaves. Anyone else have a plant they thought they were helping but were actually hurting?

Read an article from a university extension office that said overwatering is the number one cause of death for houseplants, even above pests and disease. The writer pointed out that roots need air as much as they need water, and soggy soil actually suffocates them over time. Made me rethink my whole watering routine, especially for my snake plants and aloe. Now I wait until the soil is bone dry before giving them a drink and they're much happier for it.

it's funny how that applies to so many things in life honestly. we all have this urge to show we care by doing more, giving more, adding more. but sometimes the best thing you can do is just back off and let things be.
