My friend's orchid was basically dead and I tried a weird ice cube trick
The leaves were all wrinkled and it hadn't bloomed in over a year. I saw this thing online about putting three ice cubes on the moss once a week instead of watering it. I was sure it was a dumb hack, but I tried it for two months. The thing actually perked up and put out a new flower spike last week. Has anyone else had a plant come back from the brink with something that sounded totally wrong?

That's wild, the ice cube thing actually works? Gotta try that. @sanchez.robin's grandma was onto something too, my mom uses leftover coffee for her ferns and they're huge. Plants are weird sometimes.

My grandma swore by giving her African violets cold black tea instead of water. It made no sense but they always bloomed like crazy.

Cold black tea? That's a new one for me, I've only heard of the coffee trick. I can't believe it actually worked for her violets, that seems like it would make the soil way too acidic. Plants really do have their own weird rules, I guess. My friend killed her cactus by giving it too much love and water, so maybe the tea thing is just the right kind of neglect. Grandma hacks are always the most confusing but effective ones.
