My first successful orchid rebloom after 14 months of waiting

I got a phalaenopsis from a plant swap in Austin back in March 2023 and it finally pushed out a new spike this week. I almost gave up on it twice, but moving it to a north window and watering with rain water every 10 days did the trick. Has anyone else had an orchid take that long to rebloom, or is my setup just slow?

North window and rainwater every 10 days sounds like your setup is GOOD, not slow. Phals are just stubborn sometimes. Mine took 16 months once after I moved apartments, and it was fine, it was just sulking about the new light. But here's the thing, a north window is pretty low light for a phalaenopsis. They can survive there, but they grow way slower and flowering often gets delayed. You might get faster results in an east window with morning sun, or even a sheer curtain on a south window. Rainwater is great though, keep that up. So yeah, your setup is fine, it's just not the fastest route to a rebloom.
