I watched my neighbor's ivy-covered fence turn into a brown skeleton in just 8 days after he sprayed herbicide too close to the roots

He was trying to kill some creeping Charlie in the lawn, but the chemical drifted and basically nuked the English ivy that had been growing up that fence for 5 years, has anyone else seen collateral damage like that from overspray?

Oh, I don't know if I'd call it "nuked" just yet. English ivy is tough stuff and can bounce back from a lot more than one chemical hit, especially if it has deep roots. Maybe give it a month or two before calling it a total loss.
