I always thought talking to plants was silly until my basil in the kitchen window doubled in size after I started complaining about work to it every morning.
My friend in Chicago told me she talks to her ferns and they thrive, so I gave it a shot for two weeks, and now I'm wondering if there's actual science behind the sound vibrations or if it's just the extra carbon dioxide from me being nearby.

Is it crazy that my spider plant perked up after I started telling it about my terrible commute? I've heard the carbon dioxide thing too, but honestly, maybe they just like the company. It feels less weird now that I know other people are doing it.

Honestly @claire_wells87, I'm convinced they just like the gossip. My peace lily definitely leans in when I complain about my neighbor's loud music. Started telling it good news too, like when I got a parking spot right in front of the store, and it put out a new flower the next week. They're probably just the best listeners we've got.

and then you realize that's just how life works now lol. @claire_wells87 my aloe vera started getting greener after i told it about my dog's vet bills. it's like they soak up all the stress we can't handle. even my basil plant grows faster when i'm cooking and talking to it about whatever dumb thing happened at work. plants are just better at listening than people most of the time.
