Found out 80% of my snake plant rot was from using potting soil that held too much moisture

Switched to a gritty cactus mix with extra perlite three months back and the new growth is finally coming in solid - has anyone else tried straight pumice for tropicals?

Oh wow yeah I used to swear by regular potting soil but this totally changed my mind.

The 5-1-1 mix from the local nursery actually worked way better for me than regular potting soil... @miamitchell you might want to try it out for your plants. I was surprised how much faster my pothos grew in it, like new leaves every couple weeks instead of months.

Three months in with 5-1-1 and my pothos actually slowed down. Started getting yellow leaves around week eight. Had to flush the pot twice to get the bark from rotting.
