Appreciation post: my neighbor's orchid rescue from last month

Last month my neighbor Martha was gonna toss a sad orchid with roots poking out everywhere. I grabbed it and trimmed off the dead bits with some kitchen scissors. Put it in a clear pot with bark mix and it already has a new spike forming. Has anyone else saved a plant from the trash and gotten lucky like that?

Gonna toss" is wasteful. Some things just aren't worth saving.

@johnson.daniel says "some things just aren't worth saving" but this is a plant, not a broken toaster that's been through two house fires. It just needs some dirt and maybe a pep talk. I've rescued plants from worse - ones that looked like they had given up on life and were just going through the motions. Unless it's actively attacking you, toss it in a pot and see what happens.

Not worth saving" is a weird take on a free plant that decided to live.
