A funny thing happened with my Venus flytrap this summer

I've been growing carnivorous plants for about 10 years now. This year I decided to try giving my Venus flytrap some distilled water instead of tap water like I always did. Within 2 months the thing grew TRAPS almost double the normal size. I had no idea the minerals in tap water were holding it back that much. Has anyone else seen a big change just from switching water sources?

Not so sure about all that, honestly. @blakem13 has a point, could be a lot of things besides the water. Plants have good years and bad years just like anything else, and two months isn't exactly a scientific experiment. Maybe you just got lucky with the weather or the soil ph finally balanced out. Seen way too many people jump to conclusions with one plant and one season.

Used to think tap was fine too, but I'm totally converted now.

Wait, are we SURE the distilled water is what did it? I've grown these things for years with tap water and they always seem fine to me. Maybe your plant just had a good season or you finally figured out the light situation. Could be a coincidence, you know?
