Rant: Spent 6 hours trying to fix a loose hinge on a 19th century ledger

Turns out the screw was stripped from 1892 and I needed a tiny brass thread insert from a specialty shop 3 towns over, has anyone else dealt with antique hardware that just refuses to cooperate?

Oh man, stripped screws are the worst... I lost a whole weekend to a similar mess once.

Man, stripped screws are like a test of patience I always fail. I once tried to fix my dryer with a stripped screw and ended up taking the whole front panel off with pliers and a lot of swearing. Spent more time on that one screw than the actual repair, so I feel your pain.
