Heard vinegar works on some glue types. Might help with the sticky mess.

That reminds me of when I used nail polish remover on super glue and totally wrecked a table. Your vinegar idea @lilyr25 sounds way less destructive.

Ever tried acetone on plastic by accident? I once melted a whole bottle cap onto my counter trying to get glue off, lol. Left this weird shiny melted spot that never came off. The smell was awful too, like rotten chemicals. Definitely learned my lesson about reading labels first.
