Learned from a library archivist in Tulsa that a single sewn book can take 40 hours
Was volunteering at a small archive in Tulsa last month and the archivist there dropped a number on me that I can't shake. She said one hand sewn, hand bound book from scratch can eat up 40 hours of work before it even hits the shelf. I always figured a few long evenings, not a full work week for one book. She mostly does repairs on 1800s ledgers and said the sewing alone takes her a full day if the signatures are tight. Curious if anyone here tracks their hours per project, and what your slowest build ever came out to.
