How a stranger's comment saved my leather cover project.

I was struggling with leather grain until a passerby suggested dampening it slightly. Now I always test on scraps first.

Last summer, I was making a key fob and the leather wouldn't take the stamp. A friend told me to mist it with water, and it worked like magic! Now I keep a small scrap pile just for testing finishes and dampness levels. It saves so much time and leather.

Try adding a bit of glycerin to the water for even better results!

That tip about dampening leather is a TOTAL game-changer! I had a similar thing happen when I was working on a wallet and the tooling just Would Not take. Someone in my workshop said to spritz it, and suddenly the impression was deep and clean. Now my scrap box is my best friend for testing moisture levels before I touch the good stuff. It saves so much heartache and wasted material, you have no idea. Glycerin in the water sounds like a PRO move I need to try next time.
