Got a batch of bookcloth that was total garbage

Last Tuesday I opened a roll of bookcloth I ordered online and it peeled apart like cheap gift wrap after I glued it down. Has anyone else had luck with a specific brand that actually holds up to paste?

Cheap materials seem to be replacing quality everywhere these days.

Total garbage" is putting it nicely. I had a roll that separated from its own backing while I was just looking at it wrong. Reminds me of that time I bought a bulk pack of chipboard and half of it arrived already warped like it had been stored in a swamp. I switched to using bookcloth from Hollander's a few years ago and it's been solid. Sticks to paste and glue without peeling, even after it dries.
